I knew we were getting settled in the new place when I found where they make the fresh mozzarella here. Bad news is: now I am 60% mozzarella and tomatoes by volume. (But this is also the good news.)

I've been writing probably too much--my wrists are getting sore, which is a sign I should back off, and I have a bunch of admin/life stuff that I must do. But I also have this weird urgency like "if I don't write NOW when will I get the chance?"

I hope you can get space to do something nourishing.

I defer on Napoleon, friends, bowing to greater expertise. I'm peacing out now.

I guess I was thinking more of "put all my relatives in charge of countries, hope for the best" but I defer to actual historians on all this.

(Napoleon starts to go to pieces in any situation where his signature "go very fast" move doesn't work. So he flubs Egypt and then just lurches from disaster to disaster until the first time he's exiled, failing at both governance and military action.)

Custer! Also, in my most inflammatory opinion: Napoleon Bonaparte.

Man, this is brilliant. My handwork hobby is usually knitting but it's hot as hades here right now, and I don't want knitting (or anything) on my lap. But LEGO! Lego goes on the TABLE and it doesn't act like a blanket! I could be doing LEGO while I listen to podcasts! You're a genius!

Do you know how few things I do stay done? It's basically just writing and Some Knitting.

(My brain: but who CARES about what the city looks like?
Me: lots and lots of people
Brain: but MAGIC! KISSING!
Me: where are they standing though
Brain, resentful: IDK outside
Me: no)

It also needs an actual setting. I wrote this book as play, because brain wouldn't shut up about it, so the setting atm is "vaguely a forest, and also Evil Church". When writing for consumption by others one must actually invent places, alas.

Very untidy still, but taking shape! We are loving the birds and the beautiful weather. (Soon to be very hot, enjoying while we can.(

Brains are annoying but also, it's a good WIP, Brent. (Finally located my laptop in the tide of boxes and able to read.)
