The savings are *even steeper* if you purchase produce and other food items at a “business” Costco. However, because these items are packed for restaurants, you really *must* have a buying collective in order to avoid waste. Regular Costco cards are good at business Costcos.

I once made a chocolate cherry fruitcake. It was pretty good but the process took several days because I had to repeatedly soak the cake with rum (or maybe brandy I don’t recall). It cost like $100 or something because I didn’t have the liquor on hand and the candied cherries were so expensive.

Lab grown meat is not currently a viable option considering the substantial cost of of production.

I eat meat but, as a practical matter, we need to eat less meat in order to avoid burning the planet to a crisp. Also, there are substantial ethical and moral issues related to killing animals for food.
