Listened to Chapo Trap House while starting work today and they had on a guy who insisted on the strategy of confronting your representatives - as if they give a shit... I hate to be the one to say it, but they don't care. Calling, emailing, talking to them in person, none of it works.

The real question is why does Europe feel threatened by Russia? Yes, there was the invasion of Ukraine but no other countries have been directly threatened. Russia has been clear since 2014 that they want their border-states to remain neutral between NATO and Russia. Why potentially provoke war?

Its really telling that the Dems are far more up-in-arms over the groupchat incident than the plane crashes, the Palestinian political prisoners being held by ICE, the cuts to key government agencies, and the potential rollback of social security.

Pro-worker candidates are nice, but without any link to organization and mass movements it will probably mean nothing in the end.

jacobin.com/2025/03/abun... Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson’s "Abundance" really is just another ridiculous rendition of FALC, but with a different C.
What the “Abundance Agenda” Leaves Out
Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson’s new book Abundance has plenty of merits, writes Matt Bruenig, but its emphasis on growth and innovation must be married to other egalitarian concerns.

What year is this? Two politicians who have been bootlicking the Democratic Party, supporting both of the unpopular Biden and Harris campaigns - while each aided and abetted genocide, and have been ultimately useless "can become something bigger"? We all deserve so much better than this.
The “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” rallies headlined by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can become something much bigger — if Bernie and AOC direct their rally attendees into sustained organizing efforts against Donald Trump and Elon Musk: jacobin.com/2025/03/bern...

It was already a hellhole, we didn't need to hear it from him
Trump’s tireless trash-talking of the country should be understood as priming the public:

He keeps telling his base that America is a hellhole because he understands instinctively that the more hellish people think it is, the more likely they are to give him license to do as he pleases.
Beware Trump’s Talk of Coming “Emergencies”
Far-right rhetoric is suffused with dark talk of impending calamities. It’s a favorite trope of autocrats who are, themselves, the calamity.

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped
I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

Singh’s brilliance belies his young age and his essay “To Young Political Workers” shows a political maturity that any older revolutionary would have been proud to have written.

Yet liberals don't behave like it in the way they always imagined. Then again, liberals never did much to resist fascism historically anyways.
