Hey @tatoennisson.bsky.social, is it weird to see this butterfly in my asparagus at the end of October in GA?

Saddleback Caterpillar (moth) on Ironweed.
I hear they sting, so I decided not to give him a little kiss.

Mystery plant that "volunteered" out of my compost this year.
Any garden-experts out there want to help me ID it?

No, you can not come in.

Draft for a letter I'm sending to Amazon, Similac and Enfamil.

OMG another one just arrived.
I have been actively trying to not use Amazon unless it's absolutely necessary (like when someone's gift registry is there). This is reinforcing that view.

A new level of Amazon marketing BS:

K needed a last-minute baby shower registry gift, so I used my prime ship the gift to her house. Items were tagged "this is a gift"
Since then I have been getting texts trying to sell me things for my "New Baby!" Yesterday I got a free sample of Baby Formula.

Actual recipe is still sketchy notes, phase but I'll share it.

I used a red miso paste and a dried dashi stock that I bought online. Now that I know what it is I can look for it in a local store in the future. This kind comes in a tea-bag sort of thing that was very easy to use. (1/2)

I finally found a recipe for homemade miso soup that I like.

A visitor in my yard this morning, brought the whole family. (Luckily the dogs were indoors)

Bunnies in my yard.
Cute... but how to convince them not to nest in my raised beds this year?

Also: Erin & I have started a potato-bag garden experiment.
(It's more fun if you pretend we're stranded on Mars.)

The best thing about perennial bulb plants is that sometimes I forget what I planted and it's a surprise.

I love getting nice surprises in the mail.

My friend Wendy G (went to college with me) doesn't see me in person very often, but she randomly decided to send me some books she read and liked. What a nice change from the usual junk mail!

Our rooftop solar is up and running (as of last week) and I'm very excited to see how that impacts our electric bill when I start needing AC this summer.
