found this shiny guy during my last visit to my parents’ house. blasting a 108 CD. i was kind of shocked how terrible the bass boost mode sounded on this, but then i remembered i used to carry this in my cargo shorts pocket while cutting grass. not exactly an audiophile environment 😆

some of my pics from the march today—over 800 animation workers and supporters showed up practically at the drop of a hat! #standwithanimation

a side note i found interesting was the apparent cultural phenomenon of Werther. all the melodrama and moral panic of a modern viral tiktok challenge 🔩

Chapters XIV-XVI—our tall boy wasn’t kidding when he said this was the most moving part of his tale. rejection after rejection, fear and flight, followed by revenge and demand for restitution. 🔩
June 2, 2024 at 2:58 PM
Chapter XIII—i guess the modern equivalent of this would be kind of like teaching someone about how the world works by reading them a Malcolm Gladwell book? 🔩

Chapter XII—it only takes one quick chapter to put us completely on the creature’s side here:
1. stops stealing cottagers’ food when he figures out they’re poor
2. collects firewood for them
3. clears a path for them in winter snow
4. wants to learn to speak so he won’t scare them away later

Chapter XI—[INCEPTION BRAWWWW] at this point the book kind of feels like a dare to see how many levels deep in first-person framing stories we can go. MS’s telling of Walton’s written account of Victor’s oral retelling of the creature’s recollection of its first days of consciousness. 🔩

Chapter X—“I expected this reception.” absolutely iconic entrance, 10/10 no notes, have another Wrightson! 🔩
May 28, 2024 at 5:55 AM
Chapter V—i waited to do my reading too late in the day and don’t have anything pithy to observe right now, i just want more people to see Wrightson’s incredible drawings for this part of the book 🔩
May 23, 2024 at 5:49 AM
Chapter IV—Victor was into his research so deep that he forgot to take notes. oops! 🔩
May 21, 2024 at 5:18 PM
Letter IV is where the images from Bernie Wrightson’s graphic novel adaptation of the book start taking over what i can picture. i can’t think of more fitting illustrations for this story. 🔩 #HotFrankSummer
