I'll be honest - this industry can really get me down sometimes. There's still so much misinformation, competition, and misogyny.

But then there are the awesome, kind, supportive people that keep me going.

All the how-to-optimize-on-Reddit posts on LinkedIn depress me.

Like, I'm not daft - I get the importance of Reddit for remaining relevant. I'm just a genuine Reddit fan (use it everyday) and am nervous about the influx of brands just brute-force marketing and ruining the whole site.

ICYMI, @muckrack.com's new report on the sources AI uses is pretty interesting.

Most of the results make intuitive sense, but what surprised me is that social media only make up <2% of the results. I thought Reddit alone would make this number a big higher...

This absolutely disgusts me. This young woman had a visa and was kidnapped by ICE agents who were masked up like the freaking Gestapo. THIS IS NOT OKAY.

Turns out that posting frequently on social media sites is a great way to be cited in LLMs.

You can use LLMs to summarize what someone (who is vocal on social media) said about a given topic...

This can be a good starter point for writing an article, making a video, etc.

I admit I'm biased, but it's hard for me to agree with a post more than I agree with what Amanda has written here. We talk about brand authority more and more, as an industry, but are you putting it into action, defining it, and challenging how your marketing strategy builds your brand?
Y'all, I haven't written a blog post in AGES. But I had to write this one. It's something I've been thinking about for over a year. Check it out and let me know what you think.

This @theverge.com + @vox.com report is fascinating.

Some key insights for marketers:

➡️ Niche content and communities matter more than ever

➡️ People will pay for smaller communities and more personalized, authentic connections

➡️ Trust in legacy sites (including Google) has waned
The future of the internet is likely smaller communities, with a focus on curated experiences
As brands look to hold onto the internet of the past, the term “community” will become a loaded word.

📌 Brand Authority Tip #4:

Make a list of the Top 3-5 concepts you want your brand to be associated with as an expert. Then cross-reference this list with your content strategy. Do you have a content cluster built around these topics? If not, prioritize it.

📌 Brand Authority Tip #3:

How robust is your About page? Don't neglect it; it's an ideal place to lay out what makes your company's approach different from everyone else's. Explain why your brand (and the people who make up the brand) are, indeed, authorities.

📌 Brand Authority Tip #2:

Ask your sales and customer service reps to start writing down every question they receive. Then tally up the most common ones and prioritize answering them on a blog post or FAQ page. Bare minimum this is great for sales enablement but also longtail traffic too.
