It's official:

-2025 is now a more threatening year for the survival of the republic than 1968.

-John Roberts will now go down in history as a worse chief justice than Roger "Dred Scott" Taney.

Indeed. Earlier this summer, the White House did this to me, as a scientific expert source in media, and issued a formal statement regarding my personal campaign contribution history in an attempt to discredit my commentary on wildfire, climate, and federal policy. Yet more alarm bells ringing...
I had this exact same experience this morning. Same reporter as Heidi.

This is *not* normal.

I have spoken to the press on these issues for two decades. No government official has ever demanded to know my identity in order to give a comment on a story.
I find this extremely chilling:
I spoke w a reporter this morning about Kimmel. (Reporter was / is great) They got back to me a short while ago to say they sought White House comment & WH demands to know first which experts they spoke with. I told reporter I'm happy to be quoted IN THE STORY but 1/x

On its face, it doesn't seem too bad... "enough food, clothing, shelter and jobs for all mankind to live in humane conditions" ok sure

Climate change has increased the odds of extreme regional forest fire years globally
Nature Communications - The authors show that extreme fire years in global forests align with rare fire weather extremes. Climate change has made such extremes 88-152% more probable. These findings...

As a fire scientist, my first reaction to these maps is that these places are gonna burn.

Any time you open up public lands to private or communal ownership that does not center fire stewardship of the land, ignitions and fire events increase dramatically.

It's like evil Gifford Pinchot drew a map. That's a lot of national forest land in the Lower 48 and a massive amount of BLM land in Alaska. Some of the best public lands we have will be available for purchase, but not by people like you or me.

Thanks to @wilderness.org for pulling this together.
