The Component Model, which uses performance vs velocity, had him and Kensuke Kondoh on a island (offensively speaking, and pun not intended).

Since 2000, some of the best #MLB playoff bullpens were the least-used. With relievers getting so much more use and with declining effectiveness, it makes the continued choice to bunt -- and concede outs in key moments -- a head-scratching tactic.

Munetaka Murakami getting posted for #MLB is very exciting. Though there are pretty big question marks as to how well he can perform, either defensively or with his strikeout rate. My research earlier this year didn't love his performance versus velocity.

I'm doubtful there's a fit in #MLB for Takahiro Norimoto, given his slow, steady decline. But it's not impossible to imagine a ground ball specialist or long man job.

Not impossible, but very difficult.

LOL! Apparently I forgot to attach the photo. But honestly, it's more distressing without it! 😆

I spent perhaps too much time digging into the numbers for this article, but I think nothing stuck out more to me than the importance of count in Bat Speed metrics.

One of the biggest surprises in my dig into the data was how low the GIDP rate has gotten this season. This isn't divided by double play opportunities here, but it's a striking development nonetheless!

I walk by this every day. But today it feels almost holy.

Upon further review, this fan in the outfield most definitely got BONKED by Kyle Tucker's home run. You could immediately see the folks around the fan reach out comfortingly. Hoping they're okay! The #Cubs offense is dangerous to folks on the berm right now.

I'm very excited! My copy of the @baseballprospectus.com annual has arrived!!! I'm eager to read the other articles -- they will be, by default, more uplifting than my article on the #Rays. 😅

Man. Sometimes the answers are simple. And sometimes you're the Chicago #WhiteSox. It's incredible how well K% predicts overall team success. And even more incredible how big of an outlier the Sox were this year.

Ah, should have trimmed the pitchers from the plot, but it's the same shape, just different nuance. #MLB

So the slow death of the Triple plays a role in the relative declining value of LHH hitters over the last 100 years. Platooning and a proliferation of LHRs have also watered down the population of LHH while also reducing their effectiveness, but the decline in triples certainly is a factor in this.
