Marxist 3D printing nerd with a soft spot for theory. Chaotic Good.
Got to go shoot some steel today. Very satisfying, but I'll definitely need a better mounting solution for next time.

Since I'm #BattleTech posting tonight, here's an industrial mech from a pirate base (don't worry, he's forklift certified).

Played some BattleTech with my kids and their friend. The kids are... Still learning. I ran this training scenario several times in MegaMek to make sure it was an easy win and they still cut it super close. But they had fun and that's what matters.

On my pile of things to finish this year: the cybARchonk monolithic lower. This is my first "designed from scratch" gun project. The first test has worked great, but there are a number of small things to fix. (Plus my daughter has demanded I add some Miku graphics to it).

Zhengdan complete. I am now a #RedNote veteran.

A traditionally manufactured AR9 barrel, for comparison.

I disassembled my Partisan-9 for a repair, which made for a great chance to snap some pictures of the ECM rifling on the DIY barrel. No buttons or reamers were used—only printed parts, electricity, and salt water.

A healthy and comfortable society does not need to turn to violence for answers.

Did you know that making your own firearms (Privately Made Firearms, or PMFs) is both fun and easy?

You can build from scratch, with ongun parts, or build a hybrid that mixes in traditional bits.

Neoliberal concepts of gun control are based on restricting the ability to *buy* guns (1)

I asked my daughter—age 12 and enrolled in an advanced school—to open a can of corn.

I also designed and printed an insert for my cheap IFAK pouch, so the back sits flat and no longer has exposed Velcro to fray my other gear.

Had a productive day today. I modelled a d printed a replacement part for a rocking chair restoration my Dad is working on. Two sections that will be joined with a dowel (and glue). I'll print the final version in woodfill PLA.

Reading more Fanon this morning, it stood out to me how this dynamic isn't limited to race. All our subgroups and communities follow the same dialectic struggle for recognition and identity.

To use his words, we are comparison societies, thus defined through the eyes of others.

I hope you all have fun working through 2025. It looks like I'll be retiring early!

My steel targets didn't come in, so it was cardboard and cardio today, but still a fun trip. We loaded each other's mags, so we'd have a reload in there somewhere, but not know when.

2025 is the year I'm committing to working with new shooters to become safe and proficient. I bought this TX22 as a "let's learn the basics" platform, before shifting them up to 9mm and red dots.

I know there are a lot of reasons to be anxious about the coming years, but I'm excited about this.

Everyone else in the house is napping or building LEGO sets. Time to drink a milk punch and do some reading.

Friends, I know that you've lived your whole lives being told that you're not the right person to do this or that.

But the truth it, you're more than enough for most things. Go get your hands dirty. Fail, learn, grow. Unless you're the handyman who did this "repair" on my house.

Did you know there are legitimate applications for 3D printed firearm? After I broke my wrist, gripping a traditional Glock grip became a challenge for me.

But through 3D printing, I can accommodate my disability with a custom grip, resulting in a safer and more comfortable shooting experience.

Building grassroots organizing capacity, from scratch, is apparently not super easy. People assume that they do not have the skills or abilities necessary for any sort of leadership positions.

Have any of you dealt with this in the past? How can I help my local members get started?

Pic unrelated?

Now I'm playing with meshtastic radios and can't help wondering where this road will lead.

There's a non-zero chance I learn coding so I can recreate the BBS door games I grew up playing.

(Assuming someone doesn't mistake my portable radio setup for a bomb, that is.)

In April of 2020, I read about electrochemical machining and how it could be used to make rifled gun barrels at home.

I never expected it would lead to meeting some great comrades, reading lots of theory, and organizing in my community.
