Kicking off the @jisc.bsky.social winter conference on AI in HE with a recap of the year from the director of AI.
Interesting to see how far we have come in just 12 months.

We have seen the depreciation of GPT plugins as Open Ai remove them. Will GoogleNotebook LM go the same way? It raised the challenge of reliance on tools that we have not control over and could disappear at any time.

From my talks with unis about GenAI, main concerns are data security and accuracy of responses. Worth considering open-model GenAI - free to use, can run locally, now as powerful as GPT-4, no data sent outside, can be customised. HuggingChat gives chat access to multiple models. huggingface.co/chat/
