Last night I had the pleasure of joining several National Night Out celebrations across North County.

It’s very important to build trust and strong relationships between the community and first responders. When we come together as neighbors, we create safer, more connected communities for everyone.

Had a great time walking in the St. Ann Day Parade this past Sunday! Big thanks to everyone who came out to walk with me — I’m so grateful for your support. Always good to celebrate community together.

Thank you to the members of the St. Louis County Council who stood up for what is right and rejected the resolution honoring a man whose rhetoric was divisive and harmful. We will continue to send the message that hate has no place here.

Yesterday, I joined the incredible Boeing workers from Aerospace Lodge 837 on the picket line bringing water, solidarity, and my full support. As a retired union member, I know what it means to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job.

For over 40 years, I’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of North St. Louis County—on the picket lines, in the State Capitol, and in the streets when justice demanded it. I’ve been proud to serve as a union worker, public official, grassroots organizer, and civil rights leader.

Today marks 11 years since Michael Brown Jr. was taken from us. His life mattered. His future mattered. And it was all cut too short. A boy who had just graduated high school was ripped from his parents at the ripe age of 18.
