She touches one of my books on a stand, then immediately recoils and shouts "Oh my god wait. These are books??" A 4-panel comic. I'm at a comics festival. A guy walks by and says "Hey! I love your banner! It's really funny!" so I reply "Thanks! Wait until you read my comics!" So he asks "What's it about? A family going on adventures?". I say "Not really! It's all true events." He immediately replies "Oh, like the Simpsons!!" I hesitate but say "What no" then I hand him my card. "Grab my card and give it a try?" but he leaves saying "Nah, I just like your banner, bye"

A 4-panel comic. At the Montreal Comic Arts Festival, fellow cartoonist Laurence was tabling with her 3-month-old daughter. Laurence hands me her baby, saying "Can you watch her while I'm on a panel?" I gladly take the baby. Happy, I hold the baby while standing up behind my own table. People walk by and are surprised, they don't even say anything but I immediately say "Haha she's not mine!" But then this kept happening and everyone who walked by gasped and on the last panel I just keep saying: "Nope, not my third, Laurence's, not mine, no"

A 4-panel comic. We recently got a free Google Home. As we install it, m husband says "It's not that useful, but what harm can it do." The next panel shows the Google Home in the dark. My 6yo daughter walks up to it and says "Ok Google. Play 'Baby Shark'." As the song blasts through the house, we're still in bed and I look at my phone: 6:46am.

Whoops, a spring comic in the dead of fall.

On panel 2, I'm tabling at the festival, and I wave hi to a customer while pointing to a sign I made that says "I lose my voice!". The customer says hi but then mimes what they want. I then hold a larger sign that says "I can't talk but YOU can" and the customer just says "...right"

An 8-panel comic. Normally, when I go to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), I stay at the Marriott Hotel because it's close and convenient (within walking distance). I say "I'm old and lazy!". But every year the room price goes up and this year I decided I'd stay elsewhere (on the panel, I look at my computer and just say "'Nope"). My hotel was shabbier than the Marriott, but it looked okay. I soon found out why it was so cheap: I'm in bed and the street is really noisy, I can hear cars, honking, and very loud music. The next panel, I'm standing up and rubbing my arms saying "I am FREEZING and there are no extra blankets." There's a patch in the wallpaper where a thermostat must've been. The hair dryer overheated and there was smoke coming out of it. There was free breakfast, but just bagels with no cream cheese, Cheerios, and nothing else. As I lay in my bed freezing and crying to the street noise, I say, "I miss you, Marriott."

I'll be at two events in Montreal in the coming weeks! First Expozine on the Sunday only, and then the Salon du livre de Montreal. I won't have my own wares, but you can still come and say hi if you're in the area!

A 4-panel comic. I'm picking up my 6yo daughter from school: "Hey kiddo! Did you have a good day at school?" But then I notice something weird: "Wait, what happened to your cheek? What's that??" I grab her face-- we still can't see anything wrong. My kid says "It was an accident!" I reply, "How can that be an accident". On the last panel, we finally see her right cheek and forehead are covered in yellow marker. She says, "I was drawing and my face got itchy"

A 4-panel comic. I'm going into a public restroom. The stalls are tiny, about three feet high, but they otherwise work as intended. I say to myself, "Um... weird, but ok." So I decide to go anyway. As I'm sitting on the toilet, my head peeking out of the top of the stall, another woman walks by and we establish eye contact. I wake up, it was a dream. I'm holding my head and wonder why I never run away from these suspicious dream toilets.

A 4-panel comic. About 12 years ago (although now it's more like 18 years), I lent my Gamecube and my favourite games to my friend Caro. Unfortunately, someone broke into her apartment and stole a bunch of stuff-- including my console and games. Caro came to see me afterwards and told me: "My insurance company lets me buy you a Wii, but I can't buy all your games back because I also owe a few games to another friend." I'm angry so I say "Whodat". She replies "His name is Pierre-Luc. He'd lent me a couple games." Still angry, I say "Who does he think he is", but then it's also written in the panel "...Well, I DID get all my games back."
