Tiny bit of brightness. Since we bought the house, I've made it my life's work to make friends with the birds. We have 2 scraggly trees that we hung the feeders in. Neighbor we've not met yet saw us struggling and came back with a wee saw to clean up the trees. I love living here. :)

Meanwhile, Epstein’s best friend remains the President of the United States.

It's time for another Biden v. Trump Price Check - Month 8 edition. Trump said he would get prices down on day one of his presidency. So far most prices on basic grocery items have increased not decreased. All prices are from FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data)

There are violent extremists on the left but they are not in charge of the party. You can find them on social media, not in the halls of power.

The violent extremists on the right are in congress, on courts, and sitting in the Oval Office.

There is a level of mental exhaustion I've hit in the last week that I did not think was possible. Or it's depression. Who fucking knows these days.

The right is leveraging a murder to blame Dems.

Jesse Watters is convincing Fox viewers the killer was a liberal. Based on what? The chyron says “assassin still on the loose” as he speaks.

Trump dropped a video too, blaming the left with zero evidence.

The goal is violence. And it’s coordinated.

It's not the most important part of the issue but Kavanaugh saying "well they should just sue if they're the victims of excessive force from ICE" when he himself has previously voted to bar lawsuits against federal officers for violations of the 4th Amendment in immigration cases takes chutzpah.

The Trump administration has appointed Heather Honey to a top election security position.

She is a protege of Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who tried to help Trump overturn the 2020 election results.
She Pushed to Overturn Trump’s Loss in the 2020 Election. Now She’ll Help Oversee U.S. Election Security.
Heather Honey has been appointed to a senior position in the Department of Homeland Security. State election officials and voting experts are concerned.

Fam, I just got visited by MOTHERFUCKING ICE.

For a comment I made here on Bluesky.

I guess “Shoots ICE in the face” is “bad”, could “incite violence” , and is not an “appropriate response to the kidnapping of citizens without due process”.

Cos apparently, “the media has it all wrong”.

This is an unconstitutional and authoritarian power grab.

The constitution grants power over federal elections to the states and Congress - not the president.
President Trump said late Saturday that he would issue an executive order to require voter identification for all U.S. elections, a continuation of his efforts to overhaul the nation’s election laws, which he has long attacked and falsely blamed for his 2020 election loss.
Trump Says He Will Sign Executive Order Mandating Voter I.D.
He also wants to restrict mail-in voting and allow only paper ballots. The Constitution doesn’t give the president explicit authority over election law.

Things people don’t tell you about aging:
One day you’ll wake up and everything hurts
Your eyebrows get bushy overnight
You’ll lose your eyeglasses on your head and then get mad
Your fucks disappear
You own things that are older than your memory
You’re surprised you got here.

Republicans have forced schools to stop teaching about slavery because it's too traumatizing for children.

But watching their friends get shot to death at school is apparently the price of freedom.

She showed up as the main guest at a ribbon-cutting in Searsport, Maine. It backfired.

The crowd was not happy to have her: “Shame. Shame. Shame.”

Small restaurant in my town just posted a story on IG (my wife showed it to me, I'm not in IG anymore) where they explained, with data, how costs have skyrocketed in the last few months. Their weekly food costs went up 3k - unsustainable for a small business. Things are dire.
