Twins were going to designate Jorge Alcala for assignment, so the Red Sox traded them 21-year-old minor leaguer Andy Lugo to basically jump the waiver wire line.

Lugo is pretty marginal prospect. Small, speedy utility player hitting .265/.327/.430 at High-A this season.
