The title “Lord” can be used to refer to a peer, or the eldest son of a peer using his father’s next-best title, or the sons of a duke.
If the last category, one uses the man’s name: Lord Peter Wimsey/Lord Peter.
In the first two, one uses the title: Lord Emsworth, Lord Hornblower, Lord North.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.
