About 70% or so of US aid to Ukraine in the war against Russia has been weapons and munitions. Much of it older weapons that would have needed to be replaced at some point.

Interesting. Tesla stock lost almost as much value as Musk paid for Twitter.

I wonder if Musk buy short positions in TSLA before drugging up and taking the podium? You could make quite a bit of money that way.

On the occasion of the inauguration, Tesla will release a limited edition Model Y under the name Tesla KDF Wagen. The car will only be available in "Schwarzwald Grün" and "Khaki". Rather than indicator lights it will go back to mechanical indicators that are hand shaped.

The sad truth is that Trump won because of democrats staying at home instead of voting. The tornado of bullshit that is going to make landfall in Washington DC in a few days was entirely avoidable.

Complaining now doesn't help. Voting would have helped.

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public.

He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit.

Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

I've been looking at upcoming movies for 2025 and oh boy is it bleak. A bunch of franchise movies (yawn), sequels and remakes, and the rest makes you wonder who on earth picks the manuscripts? Seriusly. Has the movie industry ever been this fucked before?

Github Actions feels like it was designed by MacGyver's idiot brother who thinks duct tape is "too fancy".

Heard the phrase "camouflaging his crack with glaze" from the TV. Went to investigate. Turned out to be some short of pottery competition show type thing.

Hey, had to check.

Needed a way to rapidly prototype and iterate a server that is supposed to run on a few machines and didn't feel like copying binaries around while fiddling with the prototype. So made a tunneling library that allows me to run the server locally:

#golang

For programming languages there's usually the standard library and then there are third party libraries. I think in some cases it would be useful to have specially sanctioned libraries. Libraries of particular value to the platform that are not part of the standard library.

possibly unpopular opinion: during the screenwriter strike, why was the fact that most screenwriters are completely devoid of talent not something that got talked about?

Futurists are people who get excited about things that haven't happened yet.

If you can't be excited about what has already happened, then you aren't going to do shit once the future you are so excited about arrives. You'll be too busy being excited about what hasn't happened yet.

The thing about political polarization is that everyone loses. You may win an election, but you'll be politically impotent.

If you can't build consensus across party lines you can only make decisions for the short term. Long term decisions become almost impossible.

Other people watch sports and yell at the TV.

I watch people cook and quietly think “what are you doing!?”
