I hate this so much, you can be autistic and know what to say and what not to say. It's such a pet peeve when autism is used as an excuse for shit like this. As much as I'd like to know who it is, I won't pry.

Call back and take back the reference. Just say you did it to help them out. Tell them how lousy of an employee they are and to avoid them.
