I mean I mostly agree with the article (except it makes a couple of reaches) but it's a nothing-burger. What else do you want the west to do? What else do they want to do? Ukraine has a shit neighbour and a few nations are cursed with this problem but lefty naivety aside, not much more can be done.

Depends on for whom? The US will probably let this play out on its own. Risking escalation is not worth it. Getting distracted from other superpowers is not worth it. Western Europe does not take proactive steps anymore. Both will hope Ukraine largely holds their own. Russia will be busy rebuilding.

Past lessons say that you shouldn't get your hopes up. The US doesn't see this as that big of a deal. Attention will soon be turned to China. Russia won't threaten unipolarity in our lifetime, especially after this war that has exposed how weakened they have gotten since old days.

Maybe I'm wrong but the cold hard truth I see is that neither are going to happen anytime soon.

They won't. The west is getting tired of this war and giving endless resources (even though they are low key profiting from it). There are increasing calls to meddle less in foreign affairs like this (+US elections are coming). Unfortunately strategy precedes morality when it comes to geopolitics.

Unfortunately genocides still occur in our world. The only ones that can stop it are more powerful nations. Ukraine decided to side with the west which I believe was the correct move, but it poked the neighbour bear that is Russia. The west could commit more, but they aren't. What happens now?

You're missing a crucial perspective, and that is that of the Russian's. You cannot say what NATO is and isn't without understanding their perspective, and they are deeply threatened by it. This is obvious.

It's more about what Ukraine CAN do, rather than should. It's a really tough situation. And there are clearly an array of interests behind the west's support here. It is more than just about supporting an "ally" country from tyranny. There is no free lunch here.

Putin is mainly worried of how threatening an expansion of NATO and hence western encroachment is to their borders. "Anyone who doesn't regret the passing of the Soviet Union has no heart. Anyone who wants it restored has no brains."
Further, Russia is utterly incapable of annexing Ukraine

So fascinating how difficult this situation really is for Ukrainians. The Russia side is clear, but the opportunistic US/west is also sinking its claws in. But as you can see, Ukrainians don't care about the latter because it's executed so well. The US is really good at this

Do you have a source showing what has been going on?

No one's doing [insert thing here] anymore.

Can this problem also occur when the pendulum swings to the other side?

I.e. Some speech gets punished and the voices behind them silenced. This means our right is to not "accept" such speech. Does it then become a duty to not expand this to more and more "normal" speech? How do you enforce that?

Bluesky's mission is to be decentralised so I'm not sure how that can really be policed
