Coincidentally I watched Assignment 4 from an old BBC sci-fi series Sapphire and Steel yesterday which features a faceless man, hope I wasn't to blame for your bsky anomaly, Eri!

"Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
I wish, I wish... he'd go away."

And without Mario Bava's "Planet of the Vampires" (1965) we likely wouldn't have been blessed with "Alien" as we know and love it.

"hear, hear!" as they say in parliament. 👍 Glad you're feeling better now and can finally enjoy your music again. Will you choose something homeopathic from Earache Records' back catalogue? If you want a recommendation Nocturnus' "The Key" is a masterpiece.

Victor Buono's most memorable role for me was in The Strangler (1964). Inspired casting.

Have you seen Jess Franco's first horror movie, The Awful Dr. Orlof (1962)? It was inspired by George Franju's "Eyes Without a Face" and influenced by the classic gothic Hammer horrors. It's generally considered to be Spain's first genuine horror movie.

World of Books, now rebranded as simply "wob" have 2 warehouses in the UK and 1 in Cincinnati. Since 2021 they started "AuthorShare" with another UK based used bookseller Bookbarn International which pays authors royalties on direct sales of their used books through their respective websites.

Garry Kilworth wrote a trilogy in the 1990s called "The Navigator Kings" drawing on Polynesian myths and legends. The order of the books is:

1. The Roof of Voyaging
2. The Princely Flower
3. Land of Mists

This movie was in such high demand at the video rental shops too. I remember this as being the only time I had to be put on a reservation list at my local store and had to wait about 4 weeks to see it. I imagine all ex-rental VHS copies are very well worn! Amazing movie, was worth the wait!

Incredibly fun and kitsch caper from the maestro also starring the gorgeous Marisa Mell, the irrepressible Terry-Thomas, and Bond villain Adolfo Celi. The best "fumetto" adaptation imo, many shots are so cleverly and artfully framed to convey the look of the original comic books.

I have the original Hemdale / Exhumed "In the Name of Gore" split CD from Visceral Productions in 1996. I still have a few copies in my loft although I'd have to check on condition as they've been in storage for over a quarter of a century now...

You have impeccable taste, Eri. I should have included House in my 3rd place run off too.

I'm gutted I didn't hear about the London Eurofest 1994 in time when Fulci was guest of honour. Met David Warbeck and Catriona MacColl at the 1996 fest and have seen Fabio Frizzi's Frizzi2Fulci show twice.

Which was the 2nd Fulci movie you watched today, Eri?

I'm so indecisive about my top 3 Fulci's although the top 2 are cast in stone:

1) The Beyond
2) Don't Torture a Duckling
3) Beatrice Cenci or Zombi 2 or The Psychic or New York Ripper or City of the Living Dead...

You have an amazing collection of aesthetic looking vinyls, Eri. Most of mine are from the 80's and 90's when black was standard - picture discs, coloured/splatter vinyls, shaped discs and even gatefold sleeves were scarce. The only shaped disc I own is Slayer's "Seasons in the Abyss" eagle 12".

I'm glad I went to see it on Monday, had high hopes for it but came away feeling ambivalent. I enjoyed it but there was a lot that I really didn't like about it. Immediate reaction was to rate it 6/10 but after more reflection I'd give it a 5. Not a patch on Murnau's original or Herzog's version.

Great choice with Maniac! 😍 Joe Spinell's finest performance. I was lucky enough to meet William Lustig and Caroline Munro at Eurofest 96 Part Two in London, sadly he only brought a mono print of Maniac as he was unsure if the Everyman was set up for stereo...!

I have several dozen of their releases too. The 7 volume Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre set is probably my favourite.

Love this Fulci movie even if the clue about the date in the photo was far too obvious. Awesome soundtrack by Fabio Frizzi, Franco Bixio and Vincenzo Tempera too.
