Cruz Azul spent 50m euros last summer. Just for example. América is enormous. El Gigantes regularly spend among the most money of any non-Saudi teams outside Europe. Liga MX has one of the biggest TV deals in the world outside the big 5, and just got a huge investment from the NFL.

I’m excited to see how it works out. For reference, literally no coach has ever been considered his level of prospect coming out of MLS. There are Mexican clubs, who frankly have more money than Celtic, who would kill to get him. But he wants Europe. It’s a bit of a coup if they get him imo.

Ran into this randomly on discover. Nancy is a singular talent to a lot of people who follow NA football. Maybe he flops but probably won’t imo. Almost certainly the best coach to come out of North America recently. What he’s done playing in Concacaf is insane. MLS teams simply don’t win in Mexico.

Yeah this season was a ride that included a trophy against Messi, a debut on the world stage, and ended in a result we didn’t like but was nonetheless an all time MLS classic of a match. Seems like some folks decided “attack bad” and “style boring” after 2023 and haven’t updated the thought since.

If they are going to do BO3 they can't do the PK's after each game, either only do it at the end of the 3rd game or do something like first to 5 points. The way it is now doesn't add anything but more games. At least make the most of the weird format.
