Shine on, my fellow travelers.😊🌟
“I still believe that peace and plenty and happiness can be worked out in some way. I am a fool.”

I just nearly spat my morning coffee on myself when I read this. Brilliant.🤣

Reminds me of an episode of This American Life that explores a list of 7 things not to talk about, mostly because they are exceedingly boring. Parking isn’t on the list but closely related to it, the topic of the route someone drove somewhere, is.

The world’s always gone through cycles of inflation and deflation.

It’s awful. Lived here all my life and experienced presidents I’ve liked and disliked in varying degrees, but nothing has seeped through and corroded everything like it is now. It feels like it’s infected things so thoroughly nothing can escape the noxious invasion.

I could wax on about my Icarus joke.

Right there with you. I love who they are now and I’m happy to be part of their lives as they find their own path, but I hold onto little connections with their early years like the one describe.

And that “Dark Star” episode is truly epic. It was preceded by “White Light/White Heat” by the Velvet Underground, and I’ll never forget how perfectly those two worked back-to-back. I can’t explain it, but something ties them together so beautifully for me.

2/I went to law school, adored Constitutional Law so much that I still carry around with me the same tattered pocket copy of it that I’ve had for 25 years. We are in a dark, often terrifying place right now, yet somehow I still believe we can overcome this and do better.

1/It’s surreal. Another thing I see is the anthem being blared at every sporting event, from the youngest youth leagues, through all school ages, universities, and the pros. Many more examples out there, too.
I am an American by birth and have been my whole life thus far. [cont.]

Oh, hecks Yes to this. Reminds me of one of my small yet persistent pet peeves in music: the gatekeepers. “That’s not REAL [jazz, rock, hip-hop, metal, etc.]”
It gets worse amongst guitarists, at least on social media. “What? That [guitarist, solo, riff, etc.] isn’t good. Only this one is!”🙄

When we lived in L.A., one of our friends produced reality tv shows. I learned very quickly there was no point in making up absurd reality tv show premises as jokes. Everything I said had either become a show, was in development, or had already been pitched for real. No limit to absurdity.

I wish so much I had the words to lift the pressure off you and let you create, research, analyze, record, etc., at the pace that’s best for you in every way, especially caring for yourself, your wellness, and well-being. I know I can’t do that for you, but you absolutely deserve it.🙏🏽

So sorry you have to deal with this. It neither helps nor serves anyone. Your work is amazing and the untold hours of serious effort behind each episode shine through.
And to those pestering Mr. Hickey between episodes, I promise absolutely nothing is stopping you from recording your own.

Have to admit I had not listened to his music before last night’s halftime performance and I am so glad I watched it. I truly enjoyed it and now I’m off to explore more of his work. 🌟
