She actually spent months building this out for me. I basically now have the 3rd floor / attic devoted almost exclusively to my “cute” lifetime hobby. I could not be happier! Don’t mind the window unit - she’s agreed to replace that with a heat pump + mini-split when spring arrives.

Spent the last 5 days on the road visiting family - and was thankful for the chance to do so. Also thankful for the chance to carve out some dedicated time with books I’ve been intending to read and was able to finish these two. Both were exceptional!!

Toured the Koval distillery today and had a great time - also brought back some treats. Been looking for an American alternative to TN / KY whiskeys and Koval’s a perfect choice. Blue state distillery, oldest independent distillery in Chicago, female owned and led, great whiskey! HIGHLY recommend!!

One of the many wonderful benefits of having retired - I can sit at my desk on a wintery day with a hot cup of coffee and just play No Man’s Sky.

That Black Company volume is one of THE true essential SF/F reads. Cook almost single-handedly invented both Grimdark and what Erikson in his intro calls “boots on the ground” military fantasy. Was lucky enough to find a copy of the Tor Essential hardcover copy recently and scooped it up.
