A lovely afternoon spent with Jasvir Deol and Gurtej Singh-Brar - NDP MLAs for Edmonton-Meadows & Edmonton-Ellerslie - visiting with folks at the North Edmonton Senior Citizens Recreation Society. Great conversations, lots of smiles, & a reminder of how special it is to spend time with community.

Once transgender people have been removed from organized sport (team and individual, competitive and recreational), is the next step banning them from public skating, road hockey, golf courses, bowling allies, and pickleball courts?

Safety in Sport Act was allegedly about protecting girls from transgender girls in contact sports and so that girls could prosper in elite (or elite pathway) sports. None of that applies in this case. The purpose is hate against transgender people.

Alberta is allowing Corb Lund and the indépendatistes to reapply under the old fee if it’s done within the 30-day transition to the new law, a spokesperson confirmed.

But this will make it pricier for anyone to force a referendum question on, say, renaming the justice minister Doris Daymery.
No big deal, but the Alberta government just increased the fee to submit a citizen initiated petition from $500 to $25, 000. After the separatism initiative was approved, but before Corb Lund's coal mining petition gets re-approved. No political shenanigans going on here.

The Alberta gov’t is using the notwithstanding clause to attack trans youth & the PM has the ability to stop it.

He has constitutional tools. If he refuses to use them, he is choosing political convenience over the safety & rights of trans kids.

I’ve written Mark Carney calling on him to act now.
