I too detest leafblowers, but Chuck Wendig explains it so much better than I could ever
You know what, I'm just gonna re-up this post

Went to a local show yesterday. Support the arts where they start!

Current read and I am loving it so far!

Current listen, incredibly well-written. She has a mesmerizing voice and a heartbreaking story. Should be required reading for all humans.
I’m so glad she survived this traumatic experience and shares her talent with the world (Magnolia Wu Unfolds It All was a DELIGHTFUL chapter book!)

Current read, recommended by some high school students at lunch (“Oh my god it’s so good you have to read it!!”)

Just finished this last night and @annbraden.bsky.social how in the hell did you pack so much character and plot and action into 165 pages?? It’s terrific!! So kid-friendly. We need more middle-grades like this.

I have no shortage of ideas. I collect them like my lawn collects dandelions. My problem is finding my way into a story. Figuring out HOW to tell it can take me months. Or years.

I love end-of-year book lists! I use them to gauge the success of my collection development. I brought in 31 of the Time 100 Best Books of 2025! Not too bad for a small library 😊

I think about this every day.

I haven’t always been a primary voter, but I sure as hell will be one next year. Whoever’s running against Gary Peters, you have my vote.

I have made the young children’s room at my library so awesome that kids don’t want to leave and this causes all kinds of problems for the parents but I’m not gonna apologize for it.

We’re a small library, so we have a physical suggestion box- or patrons just ask me. I bring in probably 8/10 requests- it really does work!
If there’s an author you appreciate, one of the simplest, most helpful, least expensive things you can do for them is ask your public library to add that author’s newest book to their collection.

Many library websites have a form for that. So give it a try, and make an author’s day!

Current listen- and as I’m driving around, I’m definitely looking at the plants and trees 👀

Just because you personally don't have kids doesn't mean you don't benefit from public education exisiting.

The best part of this post is
“…because of a library book.” ❤️
When I was a kid, I remember my mom making both my blue fairy costume one year and especially my Florence Nightingale costume (I was obsessed because of a library book). For the latter, she made me an entire blue dress, a little cap, and an apron with a Red Cross on it.

Happy Halloween y’all! 🎃
Teen vampire serenading his beloved in the moonlight. Of course, I had Peter Gabriel’s ‘In Your Eyes’ on repeat in my head while working on this. Also, Teenage Wasteland.
