God I remember this. It’s such a raw animation and perfectly depicts the pursuit of more speed. In the end, you’re your own greatest adversary.

Yes absolutely

That’s a shame. It’s on brand for Nissan to disappoint me, but I’m still immensely disappointed that they’ve sullied the Fairlady lineage like this.

I liked it until I found out it’s just a 370Z with a blanket thrown over it. So now we have the 370Z STILL technically being made almost 20 years later. Unreal.

Really? That’s interesting because most of my miles have been on highways. It cruises happily at 6k RPM going 140 kmh. If memory serves, the FZX750 is on a different set of sprockets that might lend to faster acceleration, less top speed.

Norton F1

Familiar with a Wankel Rotary engine? Think airplanes or the Mazda RX-7. This bike has one. This is powered by a 588cc two rotor Wankel engine. That means VERY responsive power and a distinct howl of a sound.

That’s it. It’s a rotary engine motorcycle. Do I need to say more?

Yamaha RD500LC

Speaking of V4s…two stroke engines were very high in power, but also only liked high RPMs. Yamaha’s solution was to make a V4 two stroke. V4 engine meant a more linear and usable powerband. Nutty doesn’t even begin to describe what these bikes are. Also yes, it has 4 exhausts.

Honda RVF400R

I could mention the CBR250RR MC22 for its insane 19k RPM redline, but I can’t help but adore this little V4 sport bike. Under 400 pounds wet and 60 horsepower? It’s a little V4! Just look at it, it’s so charming and would be a riot on a twisty road. I want to ride one in my life.

Suzuki GSX1100S Katana

This bike was a wild design, even for the 1980s. From the overlapping speedometer and tachometer on the compact instrument panel to sharp, yet smooth body lines, this bike just screams “look at me!” This is still one of the coolest bikes ever made and I’d love to have one.

Yamaha YZF-R7 OW02

No relation to the new R7. For those unaware, the R7 was originally a bike made for race homologation. This was a motorcycle made to win races from the factory. Ohlins suspension, super bike derived chassis, 20 valve engine, and only 500 of them exist. This is a holy grail.

I should’ve added “at least” to that statement. I was trying to lowball it but not too much. But yeah…

Not only that, but REs are already phenomenal on economy. You can get 70 MPG out of a small RE, which makes the idea of the Flea kind of redundant.

Fair enough. It’s just a shame, because I get the sentiment and it would be incredibly useful in my area. I just can’t make sense of it unless it were an errand bike, but I would need time to run errands first.

I’m getting worn out on EV bikes. None of them seem to solve the range issue, in fact Kawasaki might have the worst range I’ve seen yet. For inner city, I totally get it, but I could never make sense of it in my rural area. Royal Enfield has been on a roll this past couple of years, we’ll see.
