Seen last week in a park. In a sign giving information about a nearby tree, there was this mosaic-made glass of beer. 🍺 It made me think of the Minecraft game, that my son played for years. It made me also think of a glass of beer, because it was a very hot evening, after a long day at work, and I really felt like a little refreshment.

I was touched by this vision of an evening Roman-style empty terrace and the little roof above, covered by overflowing plants. It makes me think of a canopy bed. It’s like a perfect setting for a romantic theater scene, yet there’s no one around. Who stood up whom? General feeling: that of a diluted longing.

A piece of art, sculpture made of oblique bent metallic irons. In a very symbolic way, it may evoke an ox. Over its back hang pieces of brownish ivory-ish fabrics. It gives the statues a rustic feel. The general feeling, although the statues are graceful and beautiful, the general feeling is the one of being enslaved, having to labour till you drop dead. Or, they could represent also exodus. There’s a certain impression of desperation in the way how the oxen hang their heads low and how they seem to plod, as if heading to a slaughter house. These statues (2) are at the PoMo museum in Trondheim, Norway.

The picture is a view from a hotel window outside. One can see a narrow space between two walls. Those are probably the bedrooms with no view. Above it is a rain- menacing sky. General feeling: a deep melancholy. Though the view is from the inside of a hotel’s corridor, the warm interior light reflects the warm light wooden window frame, the view of that narrow space between the outside walls, covered with pastel blue, green, yellowish panes, the feeling of sadness is prevalent. One feels trapped in melancholy.

In a park, two tall trees are growing intertwined. It’s impossible to know which one is supporting the other. One cannot imagine one without the other. Should one be cut, the other would be probably uprooted, lose its stability entirely. General feeling: togetherness, love, support.

On a high railing, above head-level, is suspended a soft toy Superman. He’s quite flat. He’s attached to a metal pole (top of the railing) by a black string, that is passing from his forehead and through his head. Although someone hung it there, so that a parent of the child that lost it could find it; it is still a human shape hung high above. The fact that it’s also a Superman and that his cape is not flapping in the wind, it’s even more powerful, this eternal, immuable painted smile on his fabric face. He’s stuck there, but pretending all is fine. General feeling: Who are you kidding? We see what we see. Sometimes it’s just that. Trust your guts.

These beech trees in the warm March light are like an ode to love. Their leaves rustle, like a lover’s whisper, they stand very tall, reaching out to the sky, the clouds, they sing in the the wind. Together they stand, pure light and joy. And when they birth, it’s the cotton fluff. They are a personification of a strong delicacy. …and when the shadows try to creep in, they don’t give up and reply by light.

The photograph shows tall sturdy rocks. Like secular giants, weary by all what they have seen, they resist the tooth of time, sloughing slightly under its weight. Athe their feet, a green lush bush and grass; above them bright blue, evening summer sky. General feeling: there are some things that are immuable, others are passing, like the clouds in the wind. Don’t gesticulate too much, or you will miss the “now”, the moments of grace.

Inside of the majestic Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway, the organs seem to be levitating in the mid-air and to be either partially devoured by the shadows underneath, or being carried by them. The more the organs shine, the darker are the shadows underneath. Above, the rosacea is in the pinkish colours, softening the bony ogives of the ceiling and of the organ tubes. It’s almost alive, like a rib cage extending with every breath. It breathes in light and grace, exhales shadows and serenity. Never have I ever been so overwhelmed by beauty to the point that I wanted to weep. General feeling: transcending beauty like this is otherworldly, godly. It felt like my rib cage was about to be ripped open. Something wanted out and it was shattering me. And yet, that was until I heard the organs play! But with the sound of the organs…I wasn’t even touching the ground anymore.

A tree at the CUTHBERT’s cemetery in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is very spiky; impossible to touch the accumulation of these leaves without pricking your finger. Yet, its shape is so intriguing, it’s of such beauty that it’s almost impossible not to reach out your fingers and at least to try to brush them against its branches. I don’t know why, but it makes me think of monkeys. Maybe because the branches are twisted, curled like the monkeys tails, when sitting on a tree. It could be also snakes curling up and down on the tree branches. General feeling: it’s like a guardian of the eternal repose for people burried here. It feels at the same time somewhat whimsical and menacing. Just like life and death. Neither should be taken seriously.

PoMo museum Tronheim, Norway, there is this amazing installation on the ground floor. Against the opaque sextagonnal skylight are cramping like molecules, light green balloons. They are quite big, but transparent. The space doesn’t look cramped. On the contrary, it feels like these are the air bubbles, on their way out. They seem to bubble in joy. The general feeling: a certain sensation of lightness, of reaching out to the air, ethereal beauty itself. There’s so much grace in it. It’s at the same time air and breathtaking.

A passage way on a bridge covered with the mesh with small yellow-white led lights. We can see their feeble glow, as well at the evening blue sky above. One led doesn’t illuminate much. It’s the combination of them all that creates the magic charm. All for one and one for all. They are all equally important. General feeling: a bit of glow, warming light. A still life with a small square vase on a white tablecloth. In the vase, there is no water. The short-stem flowers in it (lavender and another pink one) are of the kind to look beautiful even dry. The scene is overexposed. The flowers’ gracious shadows fall onto the table. Inner and outer selves. The rest of the picture is blackened on purpose. However, on the top left corner, lurking out of the shadows are the throngs of two forks. These catch a little light, glistening in the dark. General feeling: even in the full light, I’m joy and happiness, anything can change, at the snap of the fingers. It’s not because we don’t see it, that the danger is not there.

On the shining white tablecloth, there is some cutlery. The table is set for 2, but there’s only one person. 2 glasses turned upside down throw beautiful, shiny reflections. Though the whole scene baths in sunlight, the colour seems to be missing, the life colour of joy and happiness that would emanate when two persons in love meet.

The photo is of an amazing rose rose bush, generously growing over the fence. There are many opened buds, in different stages of bloom. The colours go from whitish pink through soft pink or even to fuchsia. Beauty, love, happiness, joy, all these are multiplied if shared. Roses don’t think, they just ARE and spread the beauty, the perfume, the generosity tirelessly. General feeling: beauty, love, sharing, joy of life.

In Trondheim, Norway, there’s a statue of a skating sportsman. He is caught in the race, bent forward, arms accompanying the swing. The statue is placed on a paved square. Behind him is a tall and long building. The ground floor is painted white, the upper floors are in brick. At the front slightly left, there’s a big water puddle. It seems bigger than the statue’s pedestal. Maybe that’s why he is in such a rush. The ice is melting, it’s the race against the time. General feeling: urgency, the importance to be on the move, not to stay static. Though, the puddle and the green brunches above witness that it is all part of the circle of life. You’re here now, not then.

A photo taken on the plane flying over Norway. We can see a bright day, green nature, sea, some cumulus clouds and the plane’s wing. The clouds are making dark shadows. However, the general feeling is joyful. It’s a beauty that can’t be captured. It’s ephemeral, fleeting. Will be there next time? Surely not the same, as you never step twice in the same river.
