i know this is quaint of me but the white house renovation is crazy illegal and actually really emblematic of how trump sees the presidency as belonging to him

launched in 2017, the nintendo switch was one of the most interesting and impactful consumer hardware products of the last decade.

the switch 2, as indicated by name alone, can’t do it again. not as many new ideas here, we’re iterating now.

but it can probably still be loads of fun!

do the pragmatics of repeatable + measurable safety justify the loss of humanness? in driving, maybe so.
Most Waymo crashes to date have involved a Waymo vehicle scrupulously following the rules while a human driver flouts them.
After 50 million miles, Waymos crash a lot less than human drivers
Waymo has been in dozens of crashes. Most were not Waymo’s fault.

not the first time it's come to mind, but the ghibli trend makes it painfully obvious – you are asking the machine to pretend to be miyazaki, henson, da vinci. the perception of quality, the feeling it captures: just afterimages in your brain of old feelings which came from the source.

just discovered Sen, and looking through their site, I'm floored. the level of fidelity here is really impactful, giving you a true sense of how breathtaking space/Earth are.

check out this clip of "Chicago" and watch the camera pan, revealing the curve of the Earth on opposite sides.

@paulsutter.bsky.social suggests that galactic expansion might be exponentially harder than any of us expect.

I think of early nautical travel, with storms, disease, hunger, and just plain getting lost — the ocean is death..

and if the ocean is death, then maybe space is hell.

@sbubeck.bsky.social thanks for your expertise and optimism on the debate stage this evening! what I heard you saying was:

- whether or not LLMs have "understanding" might not matter!
- we should use AI tools to help us think better, not to do the thinking for us

looking forward to the future

as space activities inevitably expand, I think spaceports should also entertain and inspire.

the spaceport of the future will include dining, spectating, and museum-style education experiences that will serve as touchstones for visitors, connecting broader populations to the dream of space
