I read Destiny of the Republic back in 2018. I liked it so much I drove out to Mentor to see his home. One of the best vacations I ever took. Beautiful home.

An important aspect of a no-show job is you get paid for a job you don't show up for. So, yeah. It does matter if she's getting paid for something she doesn't do. If she isn't getting paid I find it a lot harder to give a shit.
