Kudos for asking this. One proposal: Team competition for $- people on left and right are paired up, research/discuss a topic, produce one-pager on what they agree to. For scaling, AI picks winning teams. $ comes from white-hat ad model and/or billionaires with love of functional societies.

Cool- thanks for the bot pointer! And congrats on the media coordinator hire. I hear you on the state of X... People have to be reached where they live online.. but I know it's tough. If you figure out how to gain views for comments inserted into likely threads, let me know!

Also- under the entries for Stanford, UCLA, etc. maybe add rollup to 'Other Local Universities' so one doesn't just see a list of single contract cancellations (not to minimize those)? I know all this takes $$! Congrats again on great work!

Thanks for the info! I look forward to following this effort. Would a greater presence on X / TikTok reach both audiences? Spot posts with generic quiz Q, link to zip code entry and then to map?

Very interesting study! Any ideas on how to convey the stimuli you used so they penetrate cable- and social-media info bubbles and reach people across the partisan spectrum? Any pointers to people attacking this problem?

You're saying 'nobody' and I'd not argue the point. So need to go outside the 'office holder' box. Find non-ideological VCs to fund portfolio of startups who get social-media leverage and want to take on this persuasion job while making some money with white-hat ads. Or *something* like this...

Thanks.. I'll seek out more of your writings on this. But given your reply, I'd humbly submit that we should have an urgent, concentrated exchange on practical ways to address the "reach" challenge without relying on centrist elites.

Sure- but shouldn't people making your argument propose ways of ensuring a persuasive message *reaches* a bipartisan audience? Much evidence that this is extremely difficult; so without suggesting creative solutions to that problem, the argument in your comment is itself less persuasive...

Ah. OK, well I back up to: What kind of content *can* reach college students, and can any messaging on current events be embedded..? Or is their non-academic content landscape so fragmented that any attempt to reach significant numbers would entail huge production/delivery costs?

Do we need a forum for creative solution brainstorming on how to break through where young people live? Anime, graphic novels, TikTok vids, where fictional characters, in absorbing plots, talk btw about real current events with pointers to balance media diet options?

Great thread- and thanks for your important work. @civichealthproject.bsky.social is building a platform aimed at boosting democratic norms via social-media comments using human-AI partnerships at scale. We want to talk with researchers to tune the platform to be more useful. LMK if interested-

Great thread, thanks! Just finished "The Age of Wonder" by Holmes .. if you've read it, did you find the treatment of Caroline accurate? I was amazed by her life and contributions, thinking: 'Miniseries!'

Great catch! Not into knee-jerk pharma demonizing, but this piece says trials are delayed while they look for another molecule that is less freely available than this promising one- so it can be exploited commercially. I'd pay higher taxes to have gvt step in right now- time's awastin'...

Perhaps- but given the week Paul wrote 'Sounds' in his bathroom (hey, subway walls, bathroom tiles..) he might have heard Bobby Vinton and The Singing Nun on the radio, even their low-key version was a screaming ode to angst- for them and us '3AM' fans.
