Again nothing but buzzwords mixed with "The generation of synthetic data" (aka making things up, something very dangerous when mixed with health care and medicine) and "the potential to".

No examples of it actually helping.
December 25, 2025 at 11:48 PM
The proof that they're not useless is to accomplish something. I didn't move any goal posts, there's nobody else here there's no need to lie about what we've both said.
December 25, 2025 at 5:50 AM
There's no evidence that it would (and even some indications that it'd make things take longer). Just some executive giving a press release to boost their stock price because finance idiots think shoving the latest fad into something means the stock is worth buying.

They did the same with NFTs.
December 24, 2025 at 8:17 PM
So after half a dozen goal post moves you have something that hasn't accomplished anything yet and was only talked about by AI sales and pharma executives who live or die on stock prices not products created.

And we're back to my original point, generative AI aren't research tools.
December 24, 2025 at 8:08 PM
So if you translate the buzzwords it's saying that they're using an generative AI to make random antibody structures that then humans have to go through and fix. And some executive "hopes" it can make things faster.

That's not using them for science, that's using science to white wash them.
December 24, 2025 at 8:05 PM
Again could you give examples? Because the only LLM I can find are not used in any sciences. And IBM and DeepMind are not doing drug sciences.
December 24, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Could you give any examples? Because I've never found any. Those examples you gave don't use generative AI last I looked.
December 24, 2025 at 12:52 AM
And what about saying "fuck you I'm not participating in voting, you're going to have to get along without me" is radical solidarity?
December 19, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Do you think it would have gone better or worse if republicans held their seat? If someone who voted against the Dems 100% of the time instead of 75% of the time was there?

But thanks for agreeing that they didn't have control, are you going to retract your statement that they did?
December 19, 2025 at 10:00 PM
That makes sense since using LLMs is the opposite of creativity.
December 19, 2025 at 9:57 PM
To start with that's the default when saying "AI" these days and the US is not investing in anything other kind of machine learning these days, not in enough numbers to talk about.

Also the linked article only talked about generative AI, the only one mentioned by name was DeepSeek an LLM.
December 19, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Yep, they're better than fascists but they aren't good and aren't actively anti-fascist. Use them for what they're capable of when there's no better choice but don't expect from them what they've never done.
December 19, 2025 at 9:51 PM
So what's your solution? Not vote? Then the greater evil can move even further and faster. Vote 3rd party? That's worse than not voting in the US system.

If your car is barrelling towards a wall and you can't stop in time, hitting the breaks and slowing down is still better than nothing.
December 19, 2025 at 9:50 PM
No, generative AI can't do that. As in at a core structural level it's incapable of ever doing that.

That's just a lie some tech-bros used to scam VCs out of money and to justify the economic and environmental damage it does.
December 19, 2025 at 9:46 PM
Not sure what you mean here? But they were talking about it not being one, that's why absolutes don't work.

Partnering with authoritarians is a compromise to mitigate how isolation pushes them to more extremes. Part of why dictators like to isolate is it gives them more freedom for terrible things.
December 19, 2025 at 9:44 PM
"researchers" maybe, but anyone actually a tiny bit competent researching the topic knows generative ai is just a tech speculation bubble that all the supposedly smart money people fell for and they're now chasing sunk cost.

The kinds of machine learning used as research tools aren't generative ai.
December 19, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if China is only investing in AI to dunk on the US. Once the bubble pops they'll just laugh and use the data centres for bot attacks or folding proteins or exoplanet detection or something.
December 19, 2025 at 9:08 PM
They never said they weren't Democrats, just that the party as a whole didn't have control. And they didn't, they had 50+1 not the 60% needed to pass laws.
December 19, 2025 at 9:04 PM
Vote blue no matter who are the people who realize the threat. They're the ones who realize that a corporate dem (as bad as they are) is still better than any republican because the republicans are fascists.

Want better dems? Vote in primaries, but in the general vote dem until the GOP is gone.
December 19, 2025 at 9:02 PM
I mean it is, if you're talking about the sun. :P
December 19, 2025 at 3:43 PM
I doubt I'm more informed but I say yes, but not in a time frame short enough to roll it out to mass production in time for the climate crisis.
December 19, 2025 at 6:07 AM
Well clearly I don't need to be here since you're talking to a version of me you've made up in your head.
