Mike Lee is a Ted Cruz/JD Vance-sort of phony. Learned the game to tame and climb on the backs of the rubes.
And yet it may be a smart way for a GOP senator to primary-proof himself. Mike Lee got his job by knocking off a sitting GOP senator, so he’s well aware of the risk.
