It is astonishing how they go on about the negative impact on society of people living on the street in big cities and then propose massive welfare cuts that will send even more people that way.

Stuff that the UK would call new wave (Police, Joe Jackson) did break through in the US pre-81 but then post MTV they applied the term to anything new and British (Flock of Seagulls, Talk Talk)

Wow. This was the first time i ever saw the Smiths. Don't think i've ever seen the poster before. (I had been at a Smiths gig in Nov 83 but had to get the last train before they came on)

Yet another example of the policy dog being wagged by the comms tail. The comms line given to all Labour spokespeople was "it's only about cracking down on illegal migrants. No other reason". Then the poor old policy people have to pick it up and try to turn it into something more sensible.

It's quite something how, for a one syllable word, the accent does make so much difference to how long it takes to say. In a Glasgow accent its about one tenth of a second.

I thought he was excellent on Channel 4 news the other night, speaking like a real person rather than reading bullet points, passionate, thorough on policy but speaking it plainly. Very rare combination.
