There's some technical stuff in there but the topline numbers aren't buried.

559,559 participants and 14,540 2.6%) people developed dementia. If you take out the 48,034 who died, it's 2.8%.

So...about 1 in 38.

It reminds me of the old cliche, "Republicans tell you government is run poorly. When you elect them, they prove how poorly it can be run".

When revisions made the numbers go down in the past, it meant that Biden is a bad president.

Now, it means there's some sort of conspiracy. As if you can weigh down the economy with tariffs and uncertainty and not have any negative effects.

I should look into the Flo Mask. You like them for adults and kids?

I have a bigger face so I've always wondered.

Which masks do you like from them? I've tried the bifolds but they're horrible on my kid. Open to the 3D style though.

We use Happy Life that we order f to om Kollecte. The Mask Nerd rated them highly and they fit well.

I freaked out a Guarda Nacional officer at a Barcelona airport in 2017 by asking him to confirm that I did not need to take off my shoes to go through security.

It was such a bizarre, useless idea that he was concerned I was a threat for voicing it. I managed to explain with "I'm American".

I got interested in epidemiology 10+ years ago thanks to a doctor at work. A buddy has an MPH and another a PhD. They got me considering going back to school.

The reaction to the pandemic made me decide not to.

Let's say we don't care about the parents.

We should care about the babies having parents around. It's what's best for them and it will benefit society in the long run.

Babies shouldn't suffer because parents CAN'T take off.

What do you mean? The best way to avoid falling off a cliff is to jump off a cliff. Zero precent chance of falling off a cliff if you're at the bottom with a cracked skull.

This logic is foolproof!

Well, when they don't base ANY of their beliefs on things like facts and logic, it's easy to convince themselves of stuff like this...

Also, that's $500 TRILLION. Soros isn't worth that much (nobody is).

We've also seen 14 influenza deaths. A little above the average of 9 per year.

But influenza goes away. In 2024, we had 9 months with zero flu deaths. We had one without COVID deaths and it was the first one since early 2020.

Look at how low we kept those numbers when we actually tried a tiny bit to prevent viruses from spreading.

I don't think we should be doing EVERYTHING to stop viral spread, but doing NOTHING isn't working.

Improve indoor air quality, mask when sick or high numbers, vaccinate.

My county experienced 6.86% of all of our COVID pandemic deaths in 2024 despite it being "over" for years. And that's despite the early deaths of hundreds of people in 2020-2023 who weren't around to get infected and die.

There was still some in Madison over the weekend if you happen to be up this way or know someone who is.
