With Payton Pritchard saying he recently had to pull himself out of a mental funk, I asked Sam Hauser what he turns to when he’s experiencing that.

“You put all this work in, and for you to go in & not play confident or be in a mental funk, it’s a slap in the face to yourself.”

I asked Sam Hauser for his perspective on Jordan Walsh’s maturation and the growth of his game.

“People forget, he was 19 as a rookie…Credit to him to put the work in…He waited his turn and now he’s taking full advantage of it. It’s been great to see.”

Sam Hauser on Celtics integrating new teammates:

“It’s been fun. I feel like everyone’s jived pretty quickly in terms of getting to know each other and bonding off the court.

“On the court, we’re still obviously feeling each other out a little bit…We’re definitely putting our right foot forward.”

I also asked Mazzulla what his year as a coach with the Maine Celtics did for his growth.

“Being in a room where you're not the smartest guy humbles you and allows you to learn. And being a part of that really helped me when I became a head coach later on.”

I asked Joe Mazzulla about Phil Pressey’s growth from when he first joined his coaching staff to now getting his first opportunity as a head coach.

“Naturally developing an identity as a coach…He takes his craft very seriously, & he wants to get better at a lot of areas, so it’s been fun to watch.”

Joe Mazzulla says the Celtics went over Quentin Grimes’ buzzer beater to end the 3rd Qtr. in their two-point loss to the 76ers on Tuesday. They also reviewed leaving Cedric Coward open on an end-of-quarter miss against the Grizzlies.

He notes how those matter as much as crunch-time possessions.

The Celtics just wrapped up practice. We’ll speak with Joe Mazzulla and a couple players shortly.

"He laid the foundation for me."

Brad Stevens knew immediately that Phil Pressey would one day become a coach. From his basketball IQ & preparation to his investment in others, his former floor general has all the tools to flourish in that role.

On Maine Celtics’ new HC & his foundation:

Brad Stevens told me he knew Phil Pressey was ready to be a coach since he first coached Pressey as a rookie.

I asked the latter about his reaction to getting named Maine Celtics' HC and about the learning curve from first day on the job to now having a few games under his belt.

You can pick any play and see how much effort Luka Garza puts forth when he's on the floor. The one below exemplifies that.

After beautiful ball movement, he battles one-on-three for the offensive rebound. Then he gets it again and draws a foul on Jaren Jackson Jr. The definition of a Tommy Point.

"Every time I step on a basketball court, that's my mindset."

Luka Garza's standout skill is the effort he pours into everything he does on the basketball court. Consistently, he is the hardest-playing person on the floor.

"He has a special gift."
