Doesn't have to be. I first launched a pack of legal templates for $247 in 2018. By 2021, I was charging $1,497. I followed similar patterns with other products, which trained people to buy early (which is always good for motivation and momentum).

I've only ever used Discord as part of a game. It was fine. Definitely not as good as Slack for discussions IMHO. But I get the tradeoff.

Finally, people willing to adopt this model will have a huge advantage in marketing. Normal market research suck… but reviewing and drafting answers to thousands of user questions to power a RAG chat feature will give you deep, intimate knowledge of what your audience wants and needs.

Second, AI now allows us to build expertise into our software in new ways. It takes work, but you can build systems to provide truly bespoke answers and guidance at scale in ways that were never possible before… you just need to have deep subject matter expertise to build them.

First, the AI coding agents are getting really good, so technical skill is becoming way less of a moat. No, unskilled vibe coders won’t replace developers, but tech savvy people will be able to replicate frontends and workflows easily. The value is in your database, not your codebase.

My ChatGPT has way more history, so it has picked up my snarky personality way better… so I mainly use that. I use Claude when I want something with less sass.

Agreed... and I admit that I am a weird duck. While I can't code, I was the architect of our databases even when I was working with devs, and I have a good grasp on overall software architecture (so I can instruct and review the code coming from the AI).

I think many of these posts miss a bigger trend. I'm a tech-savvy, but non-coding founder. The AI coding tools allow me to build without having to hire developers. I'm well into building my next major feature without human devs.

Agreed. Of course, I was hitting their 5 hour limits periodically on the $100 plan, so had to up to the $200 plan. I doubt the weekly limits will be a major issue for me, but I would really like to understand it fully.
