i have to color a kid solving a rubiks cube over & over, i could make it solution-accurate but i wont. i hope a some rubiks cube kid reads this in the future, realizes i just made stuff up, and feels smug that they know how a rubiks cube works and that i clearly don't know

I stayed up til 3 am (ie now) bc I was struck with the I-have-to-write-my-books-or-I-will-vomit-itis. Glad I did it and I feel better but also I’m gonna regret this….

In a 1966 issue of the New York Herald Tribune, Tom Wolfe wrote an essay titled "The Secret Vice." The essay is about how straight men of means were obsessed with custom tailoring. But since an interest in clothing was too embarrassing to openly share with others, they often guarded it.

Someone took issue with me saying that American male Protestants are unique in how they've removed themselves from aesthetics. I thought it was obvs that I'm talking about fashion and interior decor, which today are coded as "gay interests," not paintings or architecture.

in the last bit of housekeeping im downloading the entire Box folders from my book -- idk when theyll be noticed and deleted, and there were two, for some reason. not like they were ever used but telling in retrospect of how not on the radar it was...
