One class spent the day working to assemble a creature from its skeleton that had been mixed up. It is such a great time to watch & listen to them as they try to put it together. We always have rich conversations about how and why after. I’ve attached a few of the final products. #teach180 #edusky

Students took a pretest at the end of last week and just had a chance to look at the data today. I always look at the class results with the class and we discuss as a group. They are not long discussions but they are important and helpful. #teach180 #edusky

Went to the Kentucky Science Teacher Association conference with my son who wants to be a MS Social Studies/Science teacher today. Was a fantastic opportunity to learn with him and see him as a teacher. Also ran into a former student teacher of mine who is crushing it as a science teacher.

Ok folks - need some advice. I have a student who wants to experiment with wind turbine blade design to find the most efficient for cost versus power production. Any thoughts on SIMS or how to make/test them? #edusky #science #windenergy #physics #stem #sciencefair

The last two Fridays I have made it a mission to send a good note home for two students out of each class. It is a quick note saying I have noticed them doing good and appreciate it. That is basically it. Oh, and I am in middle school. Parents have been loving it.

Got to talk for a few minutes with a research scientist about bioethics with my kids. I know it was brief but it will be something I can most definitely refer back to. #teach180 #edusky

To any of my fellow science educators, you have to give @skypeascientist.bsky.social a try. They match your class up with a practicing scientist. It has been an awesome experience for my kids. Seriously, sign up for one. You won’t regret it.

Today we were wrapping up a case study of a patient that was sick and got better. Main point was to see that space in the gut Microbiome was not good since it allows bacteria and easier path to grow and colonize. #teach180 #edusky

Today we took a pretest for an upcoming unit of study. Once I look at the data, I make one of four decisions: 1) scores were low enough and widespread enough to warrant completing the unit as originally intended 2) If a handful of kids show mastery on the pretest, they will be 1/
