The thing is, I’ll never know if a take like “The back half of Mvt XIV of Orff’s Carmina Burana (*In Taberna*) is Petrushka-coded” will be relevant to more than like, 2 people that follow me

I love how I can throw a snippet of half-remembered lyrics from a song I last heard a decade ago into Google, get half the words wrong, and still get it, for all its faults, to tell me what I was thinking of

Anyways, this is a reminder that the song Holy Grail by Jay-Z used to have cultural cachet

Well of course I don’t have free will, I have ADHD

I’m only 1/16 qualified to declare this, but I propose the gender neutral equivalent of ‘lad’ or ‘lass’ to be ‘lan’

It keeps with starting with ‘la’, it has the same place of articulation, and you get to say ‘lannie’ in place of ‘laddie’ or ‘lassie’, which rolls off the tongue just as well

The woods are ̶l̶o̶v̶e̶l̶y̶ humid, dark and deep, but I have promised to keep, and miles to go before I sleep etc

god, the humidity on Kamino must’ve been unbearable…

All it takes is one person putting up a Happy Birthday post in a public place that you can repost, and suddenly everyone’s scrambling to wish you Happy Birthdays that otherwise would’ve forgotten

(Of course, I mention this for no reason at all…)

Crazy that in the span of 12 hours, a guy’s Wikipedia article goes from 6 sentences to having 13 whole sections, and his brother goes from some guy in the Chicago suburbs to being the brother of the most powerful religious figure in the world

I get the feeling the left-wing narrative about things the right-wing does is often wildly misconstrued, not to make them look worse per se but to make their logic look dumber than it is

A disproportionate amount of the children’s entertainment industry is propped up by the inability for children to recognise that their favourite character standing right in front of them shouldn’t be 6 feet tall

I’ve gone in less than 24 hours from ‘oh, a quirky song in French about an orange fish with legs’ to ‘I’m concerned about how quickly people are descending into idol worship’

(Admittedly, we’re not there yet, but we’re getting there FAST)

Someone on Wikipedia was oh so pleased with themself when they wrote this

I’d like a word with whoever had the DISH guide say that several new episodes of Jeopardy in the past week weren’t new episodes (making the DVR not record them)…

do you want to know what happens when you fuck with an autistic person’s rituals? Cos I don’t think you would’ve done that if you did…

Thanks to @bmacs001, #openhistoricalmap has comprehensive coverage of #newjersey municipality boundaries over time. Watch the state get divvied up into counties, townships, boroughs, cities, towns, and villages in this mesmerizing #TimeSeries […]

I just saw an ad promoting ShopRite as ‘family-owned’… I don’t know if that’s necessarily a good thing tho, isn’t Walmart family-owned?

Whoever said that everywhere’s gonna be deserted after 6 tonight has never been stranded at Penn Station NYC bc their train was cancelled
February 9, 2025 at 11:35 PM
This train may be going less than 10mph, but at least the toddler next to me is blaring Monsters Inc from an iPad

The reason great art is rare may be that great artists are genuinely too stupid to survive.

I’m thinking maybe feudalism was better for society…

after all, the ruling class didn’t have to convince the people that they were smart (even if they weren’t) and turn them against their neighbours and tear apart society- they were just like ‘I rule you. Deal with it, peasant’ and that was that

When we talk about our ‘last brain cell’, are the billions of brain cells that are actually in our brain ticked off?

See, I’d do some sort of ‘year recap’ post if it didn’t feel like 2024 didn’t start until like March or somn…

Can I just say, making fun of New Jersey was only ever a thing because the New Yorkers who wrote TV shows in the 90s only knew about three states.

New Jersey is great.
