I’m only a few chapters into #strangebeasts (by @susanjmorris.bsky.social), the audiobook version which is narrated by Amélie Rich, but it is already SOOO GOOOD! Highly recommend you get this in your ears!

Alice laughed. 'That’s silly,' she said. 'I don’t commit felonies!’

‘I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said Andy Biggs. 'When I was your age, I always did them for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've committed as many as six felonies before breakfast.’

I initially misread your skeet and was about to recommend this famous work by George Paxinos:

Awesome!
Here’s an airship I made with my burned-out-and-left-my-academic-job energy.

It nuzzled my hand and also began tearing apart my watch strap.

Now I had a familiar, so I was well positioned to set out on an Adventure!

But since it was a bit late in the day for that sort of thing, my wife and I posted on FB and contacted local vets to try to find the owner. 4/

It was a parrot of a kind I wasn’t familiar with, though I’ve since been told it is a blue-fronted Amazon. It was undoubtedly someone’s pet. Not just because it spoke, but because it clambered down through the bush towards me, then leapt onto my arm. 4/

So it wasn’t that surprising to hear a parroty call coming from the bushes this afternoon.
It was more surprising to hear a little voice call, “Hello! I love you!”, something I hear all too rarely while hanging laundry. Wary of fae mischief, I explored until I found this specimen. 2/

First Bluesky post:
The Tale of the Parrot

I live in suburban Sydney 🇦🇺 We get all kinds of birds here, including a bunch from the parrot family: sulphur-crested cockatoos, galahs, and rainbow lorikeets. It’s not unusual to see one in my backyard. 🧵 1/
