1. Far right federal judge Matthew Kacsmaryk has just vacated all EEOC protections for gay and trans people in the work place.

He says protections from "being fired" do not mean they are protected from harassment by Title VII.

I cover this insane ruling here.

Those who think President Biden can make the ERA the 28th Amendment overestimate executive power. I’m among those who think Virginia’s ratification sufficed to make the ERA part of the Constitution. The President could and should say he agrees if he does. He can’t do more.

1. In April 2024, California raised the minimum wage for fast food chains to $20/hour

The industry claimed it would be devastating & require significant job cuts and prices increases

Here is what really happened: workers got a raise, prices went modestly, and the industry continued to add jobs
What really happened after California raised its minimum wage to $20 for fast food workers
What would happen to the fast food industry if it had to pay its workers something closer to a living wage?

The ERA is just sitting ready to be sent to the archivist to be written into the constitution. Maybe we can boost this message to the president to get this done now. It may not save everyone but it could make a huge difference with the next administration.

What Comes Next for the Equal Rights Amendment?
Three-fourths of U.S. states have ratified the amendment, and many argue it is the 28th Amendment to the Constitution; Women’s Equality Day serves as a reminder of the amendment’s importance.
