This is the Witches Head Nebula, imaged from a dark sky site in New South Wales, Australia with a Megrez 90 refractor telescope and Canon EOS 1100D DSLR camera. This target is huge, (the equivalent of 5 full moons from top to bottom) but extremely dim, requiring several hours of integration.

Here’s the Helix nebula captured from my backyard. Narrow band fifers used to provide false colour image from a monochrome camera. Taken over 4 nights, exposures totalled just over 10 hours.
