I'm going to describe all my conversational digressions as "non-linear dynamics" or "inflection points" from now on.

Person: I'm for worker's rights

Goose: What rights

If it isn't AI, it has passed the anti Turning test, because I can't believe that's a human being

No no, I very much get it, he's a polarizing writer and not one that I'd say appeals to everyone, even on his literary merits. He leans on formalism and repetition pretty hard and he uses a lot of the same tools on every story. I like him, but I can easily understand how others might not

I liked Vision best, but he's a writer who has picked his lane and committed.

It's a Tom King joint, which can be some people's jam and very much not others. I dig it, because I am a sucker for epistolatory style stories with narrative momentum.

Have you checked out the graphic novel it's based on? True Grit where Supergirl is Rooster Cogburn.

It seems kinda interesting from a cultural forensics/analysis point of view but it doesn't feel like a framework suited to telling stories I'd enjoy?

Mixture of old school portal/secondary world fantasy, Japanese post DnD fantasy, Chinese pseudo mystical fantasy, computer RPG conventions and marketing keyword algos crossing linguistic barriers to make the niche of niche genre overlaps.

(I haven't read any of it. It just pops up online)

I think "litRPG" means partially explicit mechanics from RPGs in the setting (characters refer to things like levels, etc) and xianxia is downstream of Chinese "personal cultivation" fiction where the main character is ascending towards something like Sage or god-hood.

Oh of course not!

This is also a result of Trump saying he's not ruling out ICE raids on sporting events. You could rename it "Please Don't Raid the World Cup" Award and it would be more accurate

"wasn't horrible" is a good way to put it

Oddly the pilot is probably the best episode of the season, and S1 features the worst episode of Trek (imo) until quite recently with Debt of Honor.

Your memory might be playing tricks on you, because the general consensus was it took about a season and a half for the show to gel properly and didn't fully hit it's stride till the start of the 3rd season.

But yeah, I'll watch and then judge

Every new show gets unfairly hated on, then usually post hoc glorified as perfection. TNG, DS9, not so much Voyager, ENT, the only ones they didn't bag on was PIC and that ended up the worst thing from the franchise.

Yeah I don't want to talk to you

I really hope this doesn't suck, because I'll watch at least some of it and if doesn't do well, it'll be remakes of TOS forever and ever

There's absolutely some of that in there, it doesn't need to be exclusive, but I very much think he's relishing the hurt and personal satisfaction
December 4, 2025 at 6:30 PM
I'm going to disagree a little bit- his glee at these actions and the anguish he provokes suggests to me that he actually does realize his behavior is wrong, and enjoys the transgression. It's a throughline from his high school to today and I think the racial angle is justification and excuse.

1. Agree- release all the files
2. Do you understand that you need to keep this constantly in the headlines in order for anything to happen elsewhere?
3. I really don't understand how you aren't understanding the link between outrage and action.
