Dental visit day. Two of my last three visits were traumatic, so we’re all going to think good thoughts about the next 2 hours.

Lunch time and work day is being a lot without being much in the scheme of things. Need to do rapid decompression to get through the rest of it.

I've spent the last hour and a half analyzing the situation and have concluded I'm not ready for a Monday

I have made better basil beef, but it's edible and that's the key thing at this point.
November 16, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Status update: Very tired. So tired. One thing to do but prepped, one waiting until tomorrow, one until next week. The basil beef is the only thing left to do and luckily it's fast.

Bare minimum leaf raking done and now the kitchen's ready (dishes put away, sink cleared, ingredients pulled out) for cooking. Gotta sit down and maybe have a few minute snooze first tho because being out in the wind will do that to me every time 🥱

Enough dramatics for today (lol, there's never enough), gonna eat lunch then go rake leaves before coming in to do food prep. The list I hope to get thru of things to make:
* basil beef
* rice
* roast squash
* mashed potatoes
* brussel sprouts with pecans
* skillet apples
* GF pumpkin bread

Oh FFS. I just went to VERY BRAVELY throw out the food sealer that stopped working 7 years ago and plugged it in onnnne last time just to be SURE and.

It worked.

What. Why. I'm both glad and INCREDIBLY ANNOYED.

Me, a person who's owned a chest freezer, been thinking about another one for at least a couple of years, and actively looking for a couple of months: "WHY AM I IMPULSE PURCHASING A FREEZER."

Blue, I don't think that's what 'impulse purchase' means.

I've been rolling my eyes at how black friday is already well underway, but now I'm being sucked in by a freezer that costs more than the one I had my eye on. It's upright, frost free, not break the bank more (esp on sale), and, most importantly, it'd be **delivered**

The problem with starting to actually COOK cook after not doing it for most of 7-8 years is you end up needing to reconfigure the whole kitchen for different priorities.

I did order a few new ones at about $5/pan (Costco and Wassertrom were similar prices, but Costco was easier). I don't even know how old these are, but they were inexpensive commercial pans and they've definitely been worth the little I paid.
Friends, do we think it's time I replace the 1/4 sheet pans I use all the time

Inhaled food, took a hot bath I almost fell asleep in twice, got dressed in a couple layers of soft clothes, passed out for half an hour or so, and NOW I'm finally warm.

Have obtained supplies for another week. This involved the farm market, the pet store, the asian grocery, Costco, and the large grocery. I spent most of it freezing, but I'm treating that with rice ramen noodles in salty chicken broth.

Correction, leaves are going on tomorrow's docket because I've just realized it rained a bit last night -- not a lot, but enough to put it off. Which does explain why half the neighborhood was so ambitious about dealing with their leaves yesterday afternoon.

So far this morning I've turned off a light when I meant to close a gate, wandered off when I should've been supervising the pups' breakfast (I've no idea if Kenna left kibble that Tavi cheerfully finished off), and generally had my brain fail to engage. Hopefully the coffee kicks in soon.

I randomly* learned to count 1-10 in Japanese as a kid and every now and then I'll be watching a youtube video and someone will be absently counting stuff out. It's hilarious how my brain record scratches because I recognize the words, when I'm so used to NOT recognizing the words.

It is FIVE FORTY-EIGHT P M and it feels like EIGHT FORTY-EIGHT P M. The southern half of the globe has stolen our sunlight. Do we have to do a heist.

I've picked up the yard AND taken both dogs on walks. My god, I'm a rock star.
November 14, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Yeah, okay, that coffee at lunch tasted good but my brain is vibrating and I'm absolutely starving at 3 pm (I'm making instant oatmeal for my agonies)
November 14, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Made it to 2:30 before my brain went "No :)" so I'm out for the weekend. Now I'm commencing procrastination on doing the yard pick-up.
November 14, 2025 at 7:37 PM
For no specific reason, I originally had today off for PTO, then last week postponed it to *next* week so I didn't have to rush 3 major deadlines... Which all moved in the last 2 days, two of them yesterday 🤨

I've decided the [main dish] is going to be seasoned salmon I have in the freezer, with rice. Which is great for me since the salmon doesn't have to be baked for the week on Sunday, I can do it by serving easy enough.
Trying to figure out what I'm going to make this weekend to eat next week and so far I've got:
-basil beef stir-fry* + rice
-[main dish] + brussel sprouts with bacon, pecans, and cranberries
-skillet (fried) apples
-GF pumpkin bread
