I never ever want to open a restaurant, but I've been saying for years that this would be a great theme for a potluck or dinner party.

Not just Asian. People I've called "Aunt" include neighbors, family close friends, and older people related by marriage to other people I'm related to. I'm thinking of "my mother's brother-in-law's first cousin" -- nope, just "Aunt Rose" to all us kids.

As a kid, I called my father's cousins "aunt" and "uncle". Except one who insisted on "cousin" as a courtesy title because it was More Accurate. My fam thought that was a little weird.

Sometimes the thing I hate most about today's media landscape is how some of the takes that sound reasonable now, past me would have said "and would you like some tin foil for your hat with that?"

If only.

"The Republican Party standing up for law-abiding ..." lmao.
October 19, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Well, that's the ultimate "might makes right" statement there.

This is like, "I try to be cynical, but it's just too hard to keep up."

For what it's worth, one of the ways in which Massachusetts is not as progressive as we could be is the lack of same day voting registration. Even if you're sure about your status taking a minute to check this week can avoid a problem on Election Day.
