Consider the moral consequences of this economic policy. We can't grow our own coffee in the US. We need global markets for our soy and corn. Farmers -- and children! -- in both countries go hungry, if we don't work together. Even Ronald Reagan supported free global trade. It fosters peace.

Archaeopteryx is my spirit animal. (I like its German name better: Urvogel.) Chagrinned by my childhood error of mistaking a heron for a Pterodactyl, I have accepted that a heron is actually an Urvogel that has lost its sense of "humor".

If I could give reasons for hope, then you'd have reason to rely on and wouldn't need hope. Hope shrugs at certain death, looks you in the face with love and says, "I've got you". You close your eyes, fall into her arms and, well, hope she really does. When reason fails, hope prevails. I hope.
