I was in World Market and their Christmas clearance (that normally gets snapped up before new years) was 90% Harry Potter junk...75% off and still not sold on Jan 9th, I hope the corporate buyers took note for next Christmas.

I have young adult brown nephews. They are all US born, in the foster system, adopted and raised by two white women. I am fully terrified that even with evidence of citizenship- a birth certificate with two Mom's names - the extra layer of homophobia will mean it won't be enough for the gestapo.

Worked in minor league baseball for years, every September was just a month of high key anxiety that I was forgetting something because my work hours went from 60/wk to 40, overnight and I had no idea what meals at home were supposed to look like.

My Mum was in a car accident in Spain back in the 60s. When she woke up in a convent hospital with whitewashed stone walls and staffed by nuns with winged wimples speaking a language she didn't understand, she thought she had died.

Not the point, but surely his tech buddies can't be happy with this one? Giving people one more reason to abandon SM entirely in a time of bots, bigotry, AI slop, out-of-control marketing, etc., seems counter to what they would want.

I mean, we could also point out that "subtracting" anyone might make the scores *look* better collectively, but it wouldn't actually improve the scores of any individual students.
