This may shock you but teenagers were actually very much capable of organizing and finding community pre internet, and social media has scientifically been shown to be a highly negative influence on teens. Again, the potential that maybe they might get into activism does not negate any of this.

Not a single word you've said even addresses what I said. Children under 16 do not need unrestricted, unsupervised, infinite internet access "because politics and activism!!1!1!" You don't actually care abt kids if you think the ***potential*** for POSSIBLE activism is worth risking their safety.

While online communities can be valuable, they are no substitute for real-life connection and community. And we need to figure out how to use digital connections in ways that support and nurture real-life connection and community rather than replacing it.

Worrying about irl interactions does not mean that kids should be on social media with no supervision or guard rails. Helping kids do better with irl interactions is always preferable to sticking them on facebook, social media is literally only going to make that worse

It's not a dangerous algorithm problem. It's an unsupervised child problem.

We need to stop acting like the Internet is any different from real life.

Put kids within environments they can be supervised by parents or responsible adults, or don't allow kids at all.

Ah yes because the grown men who would show me their genitals when I was 12 were part of the "algorithm" and not related to the fact that a 12 yr old shouldn't have been on social media anyway

"just vote!" Is not pushing back btw that's literally playing into it and pretending you can "change the system from the inside" which makes you look like your IQ is 15
