This line shows how the decimals 0.3, 0.33, and 0.333 get closer and closer to 1, step by step. With an infinite number of repeating decimals, 0.333… reaches 1. Because 0.333… multiplied by 3 equals 0.999…, this shows that 0.999… equals 1. This diagram shows numbers getting closer to 1, starting with a wide range like all numbers between 0 and 1, then smaller ones. No matter how small the range gets, it always has to include 1, so when the range becomes infinitely small, the only number left is 1. This is why 0.999… equals 1. This graph shows a sequence of numbers getting closer and closer to one value, but never going beyond it. For example, in the sequence 0.9, 0.99, 0.999, 0.9, 0.99, 0.999, and so on, the numbers keep getting closer to 1. Eventually, they get so close that there is no difference, which means the sequence equals 1. Infinite decimals represent a process that never ends. For 0.999…, every extra 9 brings it closer and closer to 1.
