100%. Adding that I just couldn't get behind anything Al Gore-related. In '02 (plus or minus a year) a friend of mine at a town meeting asked then-Senator John Kerry why he (like every other senator) didn't contest the election results and he said that Al Gore personally lobbied him not to do so!

And annoyingly right on cue, his primary challenger, city councillor Osse, ends his campaign. Ugh.

Your regular reminder that the Nazis 1930s has national health care (inherited from Weimar who inherited it from Bismarck), as did the Soviets under Stalin. Not saying that national health care is terrible, only that a country can have it and still be horrible.

Adding that "Short run economic pain to ensure we don't lose our political liberties" is a proud tradition from the Revolution to WW2. "Short run economic pain to help reduce short run economic pain" makes zero sense.

I'm a college prof in Boston who was lucky enough to get a job in '05. I learned that from demographics alone we're seeing almost a 20% drop in undergrads in the 2020s. Even without the current economic and political headwinds it'd be ugly. Sorry you're feeling the brunt of it!

Economics prof. in the house. That's not how income taxes work. You pay income tax on income above that magic number. For example, Taxable income up to 48,475 = 12% bracket, then it goes to 22%. If your taxable income is 48,500, you only pay 22% of that last $25 of income. (= an extra $2.50 of tax)

Have you ever driven 32 mph in a 30 mph zone? I've never done that in my bike. Cyclists and drivers both violate rules all the time, we just violate different ones.

I got out a couple years ago. Around the time I found myself rooting for the value of my own stock to go down!
