It seems strange that nowhere in the article did it say whether a bus exists, nor questioned whether the problem could be solved by having such a bus or having more kids take the bus. That's why I asked.

Maybe the problem with the post office is that for every one piece of "useful" mail they deliver, there are five pieces of loss-making direct mail which goes directly into the trash?

The problem is public transit is awful, even at its best in the USA. Infrequent, unreliable, slow, revoltingly filthy.
